Code of conduct for Grain Legume Genomics (GLG) group members
This code is designed to provide all GLG group members with guidelines for appropriate professional conduct. Our goal is to conduct research, mentorship and teaching in an open, honest and respectful setting. All group members are thus dedicated to a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, socioeconomic background, and/or nationality. To do this, members of our lab have created and abide by the following code of conduct.
Work environment
- Do not distract others while working
- Strive for positive attitude
- Everyone’s research is equally important
- Always secure your computer as well as your data.
- Do not create discomfort to your colleagues by playing loud videos, music and chatting. Use earphones if necessary.
- Make sure your desk as clean as possible and do not store fruits, vegetables and any foul-smelling foods at your office space
- No gossiping within office
- All questions are good questions
- Be kind to others and do not insult or put down other group members
- Behave professionally. Remember that harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary jokes are not appropriate
- Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of discussions, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
- No computer games during office hours
- Discrimination is prohibited based on Race, Color, Ancestry, Place of origin, Religious beliefs, Gender, gender expression, Physical disability, Neuroatypicality, Mental health, Marital status, Family status, Source of income, Sexual orientation, Age, Political beliefs, Dietary preferences, OR any other groups as amended from time to time

Group meeting & seminars
- Punctual for meetings, considerate of others’ time
- Being prepared for meetings
- Contribute to discussions in meetings with a constructive, positive approach
- Transfer your presentation files in GLG group drive
- All group members are expected to attend department, invited and PhD seminars (check)
- All presentations should be backed up to each lab member’s folder within the GLG group drive
Publication and authorship
- Publishing in a timely manner is critical to scientific success as individuals, groups, and a society
- The order of authors on a manuscript or presentation should be dictated by the relative contribution made by each author
- Papers must be shown to and receive formal approval from all co-authors prior to submission (Please give co-authors at least two weeks to comment on your draft)
- Explicit permission must be sought for every paper and published abstract/presentation;
- Conference abstracts must be shown to all co-authors at least one week before the abstract deadline
